Shannon's family is all from Morgan county and one of his brothers lost his house in the tornado that took out the majority of Main Street. Our friend Nick Blevins that works at Bryant's Rentall also has family in West Liberty. We consoled each other that Friday night while awaiting news of the aftermath.

We needed to find a way to help and knowing that it would take a lot of time and money to rebuild, we decided to put our talents to work and raise some much needed funds. We contacted our Friend Michele Landers from Wedding by Michele and got started planning a party with a real purpose.

We are happy to report that Lexington and Area Event professionals are Sponsoring

Raise of Hope - Party with a Purpose on March 17th at the Headley-Whitney Museum to benefit the Victims of Tornado Ravished South Eastern KY. Replacing devastation with Raise of Hope and Community Support.

We have establised the Raise for Hope Fund at Blue Grass Community Foundation which will help support the rebuilding effort in West Liberty and Morgan County.

Tickets are $40 each and can be purchase on-line at https://bgcf.guidestargiving.org/raise or by calling 859-225-3343 to purchase tickets by phone. All proceeds will go directly into the Raise for Hope Fund for The Tornado Rebuilding Fund.

The Fundraiser will be held at the Headley-Whitney Museaum on Old Frankfort Pike at 7pm till midnight, Saturday March 17th. Food, Music, cash bar and silent auction. We are also planning to have a lounge where the NCAA game can be watched, But the details of that arrangement still need to be worked out.

Any questions can be directed to our contact us form.

At our first meeting the bride brought me some pictures she found of a wedding with a large number of lanterns clustered over the dance floor. We planned to do a grid of lanterns over the dance floor with lights in some of the lanterns and fill in the remaining space with just unlit lanterns. We ended up using about 105 lanterns over a 20x20 dance floor.

Paper lantern ceiling over dance floor

Paper lanterns can really make a statement in both large and small rooms. We recommend using larger lanterns to fill a larger space. This location is a private horse farm in Lexington, KY, the space is a large horse arena. We only used 6 lanterns over the dance floor, but they are each 4 feet round.

48" super large paper lanterns in a ridding arena

In this large gym we used 30" and 24" lanterns along with drape to bring the ceiling down and create a more romantic feel for a reception.

Gym ceiling drape with lanterns for wedding lighting

Even a space with a low ceiling can be decorated with lanterns. This is the Signature Club in Lexington, KY. We used 3 diffferent colors of lanterns and made a long row across the dance floor.

Lanterns over the dance floor at the Signature club

Lanterns can also be hung in a wedding tent, both with and without lights.

Wedding tent with paper lanternsMarriott Griffin Gate tent - purple lanterns hung over the dance floorWedding tent with pink lanterns

Lanterns come in all colors, a range of sizes and shapes. We would love to decorate your wedding space with lanterns!

For the last 2 weeks or so, I have been working on upgrading our website. It has been a lot of work, but I think it is looking good. Please feel free to comment if you find any mistakes, errors, broken links, other problems or if you just don't like something. I am still working on an inventory with photos, but I think that is going to be an ongoing project.

Project #2 - apple green pintuck table cloths. I need to get some pictures up of these table cloths! I ordered the fabric over the summer and just now finished. I need to order another roll of fabric to make more. For now I have 9 - 120" and 7 90x90" squares done. Can't wait to use these for an event!

Project #3 Burlap! I have had multiple request for burlap table cloths and runners for events this year. I have tons of burlap so I am pulling out all of the pieces getting ready to make runners and overlays. I hope to have these finished by next week. I'll keep you posted.

Remember that we make custom cloths, so if you find that special fabric you want to use let me know.

A barn on the family farm was cleaned and pressure washed to serve as the venue for the reception. The beams of the barn were wrapped with twinkle lights. Paper lanterns in pink, black and white were hung down the center of the barn over the head table and dance floor.

Stephanie and Shanna added lots of unexpected details to the decor. Tasha was a family friend of the Bride Janelle and her parents. The wedding and reception took place at the home of the bride. We worried all summer that the weather would be hot in August but the day of the wedding was the most gorgeous day! The ceremony took place on a stage with a white fabric draped canopy. The guests were seated in white wood chairs set in a circle around the stage. Despite having a broken leg operated on 3 days before the wedding, the father of the bride escorted his daughter to the stage. After the ceremony the guests enjoyed cocktails by the pool and then proceeded to the tent for dinner and dancing.

Seating under the 40x100 high peak century tent for 270 guests at round tables of ten seats each, head table squared around one end of the dance floor for 20, large 16x20 stage for the live band and a 18x24 dance floor. Two buffet lines and 2 full bars were located in two 20x20 frame tents to the back side of the large tent. Black table cloths with pops of pink and fuchsia for color. Pink and black metal luminaries lined the walkway from the pool to the tent. The tent entrance included tree branch lights and pink drapes for added affect to the bride and groom entrance.

Please check out additional photos from this wedding on our facebook page for Events with Design.
